About Rotaract in RI District 3291
A District whose history traces back to 1968, the very first year when the Rotaract Movement was flagged off by Rotary International as an initiative.
With the passage of time we have added many chapters to our illustrous past. Once comprised of the entire Eastern belt of the Indian sub-continent including the countries of Bangladesh and Nepal, we are now focussed only in Southern Bengal and the Andaman and Nicober Islands with the epicenter at the intellectual capital of India, Kolkata.
It was as late as 2007-08 that we bid goodbye to the Kingdom of Nepal, as they have today shaped up into a new District 3292, and we 3291. This book captures an interesting story of the beginning of a new era, winding through the pages of history and peeking into the exclusive activities of this youth movement called Rotaract.

What is Rotaract movement?
The Rotaract movement is the youth wing of the Rotary Movement touching about 192 shores across the globe. With more than 160,000 members in over 6,800 clubs – clubs organized for young men and women (ages 18 to 30) to serve for the social needs of the community, widen their friendship and professional contacts, and increase their understanding of the world.
The Kolkata chapter of the Rotaract Movement is known as Rotary International District 3291 and has more than 300 active members in its role. This is a market of talented brains and young individuals between the ages 18 and 30. Adventurous yet caring, exuberant yet disciplined and human being yet Rotaractors, they are the who’s who of the Kolkata ‘youth brigade’.
The ROTARACT club of MCKVIE came into existence in the year 2010. Our managing Trustee, Sri Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, Prof (Dr.) Asok Kumar(Principal), Prof (Dr) Parasar Bandyopadhyay ,(Director & Ex-Principal) and Prof(Dr.) Arun kr. Jalan came up with the brilliant idea of forming the Rotaract Club of MCKVIE. Our club was started with the perspective of serving humanity as well as the professional development of the member students with the huge and unending support from K.K Sir, Principal Sir as well as our Club In Charge Prof(Dr.) Arun Kr. Jalan. The club was flagged off in the year 2010 under the leadership of the charter President Rtr. Sumay Das and secretary Rtr. Sourav Kr. Ghosh and then the club continued functioning under the leadership of Rtr. Srijita Neogy(Past President), during the rota year 2011-12. The specialty of our club is that it is the only club in RI-DIST -3291, which has the highest number of members, it has about 370 prospective members and 25 board members. Being a college based club, our club mainly consists of students falling under the age group of 18-24 years, which is another specialty of our club, i.e., it has the youngest of all rotaracters around the district. In spite of having the youngest members, it is also very well organized. During the past Rota years, our club touched new heights of achievements. Starting from building new foundations of relationships with the under privileged to creating various new records. Our club has excelled in all the events that took place in the past Rota years.
